I am a guy with short hair and limited amount of money. My hair is curly, caucasian. I have been trying for like a year to get straighter hair so i can take a shower or go in the pool and it will come back straight but it seems that, that might be impossible. If anyone knows how i might be able to accomplish what I am trying to achieve with any cheap products, than please let me know.

The best way to have completely straight hair, is to pick your parents well.

You can use a hair iron, although this will damage your hair. You can also have other treatments at a hair dressers.

Why is it though, that people with straight hair want curly, and people with curly hair want straight?

If you want straighter hair but a traveling straightening iron. They are cheaper and smaller than a normal straightening iron. Try this link:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=straightening+iron&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1

Get the smallest one they have. Like a 3/8 inch or smaller. As for wanting to be able to go to the shower and come out with staight hair that hard. If u just use a straightening iron. that wont work. They only way is to get a Japenese Thermal Straightening Treatment. But those are really expensive. But they last up to a year. Your choice.

You can use Sunsilk's Straight Up shampoo and conditioner. It won't get your hair stick straight but it does take a lot of the waves out. Or buy a cheap straightener and flat iron it every morning. Or find a cheap salon and get a relaxer.

You want to get what called a texturizer, sold in most beauty supply store, ie; Sally's or some drug stores. It relaxes the wave pattern in the hair with out over processing it like a relaxer would do. Trust me I'm a black woman with a lot of hair straightening experience...lol

You could get a cheap pair of hair straightners, don't worry - it's not weird to use them! You can probably get some good ones for a cheap price on the internet. Or ask at your local salon, they may be able to suggest some cheap products.
Good luck!

Well, there are those relaxers sold at the store. You could try that,...just make sure, you do not get your hair wet for a week! (According to the instructions, and the type of relaxer you get)... Go to Wallgreens (if you are in the states!)...there are several brands...there! Good luck!
