I just did and it caught on fire. Sparked after 3 seconds. Not sure why this would happen. . .

A microwave works by the magnetron making microwaves which are about 4 inches long. They bounce(reflect) on metal as on the sides of the oven. They are transmitted( go right through) paper, plastic, glass. In food they are absorbed and they cause the molecules to vibrate faster. The definition for temperature is how fast the molecules are moving, so they make the food hotter. What happened when you put the tissue in the microwave is the waves bounced around the metal oven and went back to the magnetron causing the sparks. The sparks are what caught the tissue on fire. It is dangerous and damaging to run a microwave without something in it. Tissues do not count.

You know what's more fun? Put a burning candle or a burning match in the microwave. Instant plasmaballs. Flames are actually electrical conductors and absorb the microwave energy which makes them grow.

If you're going to microwave a kleenex, blow your nose on it first so it has something to heat up.

LOL please don't set your house on fire. I don't know why that would happen. I'd like to see someone explain it.
