While many, of those who actualy fought, truly thought they were doing God's work... they, infact, were being deceived by those who instigated the "crusades". the truth was that the "crusades" were more about controle of trade and to gain power by controling "The Holy Land".... the actions and results of the "crusades" were against The Word and Will of God... and God did not let them succeed. None of those who sought to gain from them did.

If you are asking me what I think about the Crusades? or people who have a cause type crusader?

Assuming you mean the Crusade period - it was sheer evil, and in no fashion was it a Godly act. Anyone having read the New Testament knows the teachings of Christ.

It was an act of power mongers who used religion to control the masses. It did not make religion evil - they were evil and spread a false concept of a holy war. It had nothing to do with Gods will or the will of Jesus.

At that time the Roman Catholic Church forbade the common man from reading the Bible. THEY (the priests) told the peons what the Bible said and trusting people presumed these priests were being truthful - and sure as poop stinks, these priests were not being honest. If they would have taught what Jesus actually preached, their lap of luxury days would have come to an end.

I think that the Crusades and the Crusaders are ancient history and no longer a valid subject to bring up these days. They were invented to have a cause for people to rally behind, and to thin out the ranks of men of military age.

It is a blemish on Christianity, as it was done in Christ's name, event though He personally would've been offended.

As in middle age crusaders ... I think like many today, they had a deep misunderstanding of what God wants and they acted on it. It is really to bad that they acted as they did and were called Christians, but that was how they acted then. One has to wonder if it was about God or about money and power, just like today in certain cultures.

The idea that the Pope wanted the Crusaders to open up the pilgrim route for Christians to visit Jerusalem and to protect them was good and noble, the fact that in the ranks of the crusaders were men of false intentions and little adherence to Christian values was bad, and doomed to failure,.

unlike muslims we dont think about them much.

long time ago, i guess the christians lost, something like 800 years of history since then.

If islamic countries want to stay 800 years in past, no wonder many of them are left behind.

We think that Catholic religion created a beast (Islam) that they could not control and they decided to destroy it...
