If you want to start a performing arts career, you need to do anything that can get you good reviews and build your CV. Answer audition ads, go to open mike nights, do pickup work, volunteer at the community theatre. Anything you can do that will build your exposure to the arts and help you make connections in the art community, do that and do it now.
