I'm redoing my room and can't decide on colors! It's a bright room with two windows.

I have white furniture and orange string curtains on my closet from PB Teen, which I just got and want to incorporate into the colors. I've been thinking brown, orange, and pink, but anything with orange is good.

Doing kid's rooms are my favorite projects of all! What I love about teenagers in particular is that they have definite opinions! Involve the girl as much as possible. One thing that I do with a lot of my clients is I have them show me three of their favorite articles of clothing. This helps me see what colors they like and what style they are most comfortable with. Teens also love for their room to feel like a small apartment! Add a small fridge for sodas and a comfy chair or love seat. Another thing that I always keep in mind with teenagers is that this age can be tough so I try very hard to make their room a sanctuary. For instance - if a teen tells me her favorite color is black (which believe it or not, I've heard many times) I'll paint the walls a soothing blue or green and use just touches of black for the accessories balanced with white. The more you involve her (picking out the wall color, bedding, accessories etc...) the more she'll love it and the more it will feel like a sanctuary!

I'd go with what I call ice cream colours, pinks, blues, rose, mint greens, yellows, peach, lavenders.
I wouldn't make the comforter too busy with colour or pattern maybe a reverseable one with one shade on one side and a contrasting shade on the other.

There's all kinds of interesting art you could use besides posters etc. Make it your own and mix and match styles. You could have white funriture or even light blonde wood or wicker.

There was a great artist named Piet Mondrian who made it possible to have all sorts of wonderful colors in your room without having to choose just one. His paintings had a band of either black or white surrounding blocks of color. The cool part is that you could paint your room all white, then do random blocks of fun colors like tangerine, pink, lime, turquoise, red and purple in clusters, then use 1" black stripes to frame them out. Or use the colors that are in your room as your blocks to pull out the colors in your fabrics and other artwork. It gives you permission to have a lot of color without doing the whole room. The best part is that you have all your own artwork and looks classy and fun all at the same time.

Here's a link to some of his artwork so you can get an idea of how to make it work in your room:
