The first two weeks you drive alone, will be crucial. I think that i learned more in those to week driving alone, then driving with an instructor. I think its because I didn't have anyone nagging at me, or watch out for me and I depended on myself. When i first started driving, i didn't pay much attention to the road, and i had a lot of near accident. But then it just comes natural latter on.Just be careful and you will be fine. Go luck!!!

I know this is long, but I hope you read it anyway!
Don't drive too fast. You don't want to drive faster than what speed you can reasonably avoid an accident. Even if it means driving slower than the speed limit in some cases, such as when it is raining or other weather conditions.
Drive the speed limit and PAY ATTENTION to EVERYTHING. You are on your parent's insurance, so please act responsibly and don't show off or get in a hurry. It's expensive for both you and them if you get a ticket. But if you DO get pulled over by a cop, be VERY respectful and polite. Arguing or an attitude never helps.
Don't drive with your stereo loud in town. You might miss hearing an emergency vehicle or a police car coming.
Don't be a show off! It always catches up with you and you end up looking stupid.
If you see you aren't going to make your curfew, then for heaven's sake, don't speed to get home. Take the consequences instead. Better that than to have a wreck. Just tell you parents that you chose to do the right thing.
Never get too confident. At your age, I'm probably talking to a brick wall, but really, collisions happen to everyone, but especially to those who think they are a good driver so nothing can happen to them. A lot of times it's the other guy you have to look out for. Be a good defensive driver. It will pay off.
Never get impatient with older drivers or drivers who you think are too slow. You never know what their situation is. Pretend they are YOUR family and deal with it without blowing your horn. Road rage is a big problem in the U.S. So don't ever think you have exclusive rights to our highways and roads, okay?
Go out to a deserted road that doesn't have a low shoulder and practice running off the road and properly maneuvering the car back on the road. At a slow speed, of course. Running off the road and jerking it back (losing control) is one of the big mistakes teenagers make and thus, ends in fatality. Unfortunately, driver's Ed instructors don't really cover this. So it wouldn't hurt to take your mom, dad, uncle, etc. out with you and get them to help you out with this.
Last, but not least, always always always be considerate of other people on the road. Don't follow too close, use your horn for a warning and not in anger, pay attention at intersections, and don't drive with your lights on bright. AND . . . if your vehicle happens to have fog lights, PLEASE do not use them unless it is really foggy. Those fog lights should actually be banned. It blinds other drivers. So you might think it looks cool, be we don't!!!
Okay, that should do it. Good luck and congrats!

Yes sir. If you live in a state with a graduated license system, make sure you understand those rules. Drive responsibly, don't show off for your friends. Have fun.

I'm jealous!!!! I've gotta wait until the 24th before I get it....idle waiting, this is the worst.
Best advice is keep a good following distance, it takes soo long to react to things on the road

Don't tailgate! The most common accident is a rear-ender!
