Is there any reason I wouldn't be eligible for an enlistment bonus in the Navy?

I enlisted for 4 yrs active duty. My recruiter told me I had to score above a 50(and I did) on the ASVAB to be eligible, then a bonus was never mentioned again.

not everybody gets a bonus, regardless of their scores. and what bonuses there are change --literally-- daily.

signing up for a particular rating, college credit, even what time of year you enlist all could be reasons to get a bonus.

If you think you may be eligible for one, than ask your recruiter.

Not all enlistments carry a bonus, it depends on the branches needs. There are probably very few jobs in the Navy that give bonuses, but in the Army there are bonuses for certain combat arms MOS's and a few other hard to fill jobs like translators/language type people etc.

The Navy's in a draw-down, so they aren't going to be offering as many bonuses.

The military practices damn near a "bait & switch" in regards to bonuses.
