Is this a joke? There are plenty of hellbound "Christians" everywhere. Saying one is a Christian does not make one so. Attending a Methodist church or any non-Catholic church does not guarantee entrance to Heaven, nor does believing any specific way. Look, I am not Catholic. I am an evangelical Protestant. I was raised in the Baptist church, have attended Nazarene, Assembly of God, Methodist, and non-denominational Christian churches. My father-in-law was a Methodist minister. There is no one right Christian way to believe. The key word here is CHRISTIAN. If one is a Christian, then whether they be Catholic, Protestant or other, does not matter. It is the relationship they have with our Lord Jesus Christ that counts. Also, though I am not Catholic, I have taken the time to seek understanding of Catholic beliefs. True Catholics are sincere in their love and devotion to Christ. Their "rituals" and "prayer beads" and "prayer recitations" etc, are meant to enhance their worship and to hold them accountable to God - not to take away. I say, as long as a person has a sincere relationship with Jesus Christ, that is what matters.

Do you have pictures of your loved ones?

Statues and pictures of people we love are not idols.

Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are just like pictures of the people we love and respect.

The King James Version of the Bible states in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"

Why were the Jews commanded not to make graven images? Graven images were the standard method of pagan worship. They were representations of false gods.

This is a very clear command.

However God commanded the Jews in Exodus 25:18 and 1 Chronicles 28:18–19, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them"

And in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images out of precious metals.

It seems obvious that the Jews did not worship the cherubims and Solomon did not worship the bulls he had made. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image not made for worship is acceptable.

In Numbers 21:8-9, "And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover." Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered."

And in John 3:14-15, Jesus says in correlation, "And just as Moses lifted up the [image of a] serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ dead on the cross be considered an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words held up for all to see, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, no different from a painting, a play, or a movie.

Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

With love in Christ.

tell them about jesus! if they wont listen then just let your life be an example to them. I have that tourble with my friends. I know they are headed that way, and they say they are christians, but i know their not. If they wont listen to you, then always turn to prayer. AWAYS! prayer is sooooooooo powerful. and you'l be suprised at how they will actualy like al the christian stuff when they wil eventually go along. Just trust Jesus todo whats right.
I once saw this program that has this preacher that said that, if you want someone to be a chritian soooo bad and have tried your hardest with them, then he will eventually show them Jesus through the darkness of their lives. I know catholics can e a bit different in their beliefs, but they do bacically belive the same as us. The have jst gotten a bit side tracked in the gole thing thats all. Bxxxx

You cant-- as a Catholic I know first hand we dont worship Idols its a common misconception by many people. We look to the Saints for guidance and use thier examples of how they lived their lives as ways for us to live. We do follow Jesus. We look to him for everything in our lives. You cant force people of other religions to join yours. You have to understand that there are many different beliefs and that it is ok because not one religion has proof of theirs being the only true one.

Be careful as many of them are Christians just like you and me. Just because they go to a Catholic Church does not mean that they do not belive in Jesus. Yes there some that still hold to the tennents of the orginal catholic religon. But do not lump all of them in the same bowl.

CI don't believe God is on either side Methodist or Catholic !remember
20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I'm assuming that you are joking about Methodists being the "true religion"

You can't. Noone can dictate another persons' heart and conscience. If Methodism feels right for you, great. But for me, my husband, and 1.07 billion others, Catholicism feels best.

God bless,
=)
