You didn't mention you're looking for a free anti-virus & your question is that you're looking for a "good" anti-virus that also removes viruses.

Here's what I use & it's very good, extreemly light on resources too. Not like the memory hogging programs like Norton, Kaspersky etc & Kaspersky is better known as a better choice for finding trojans than actual viruses over the years.

NOD32 by ESET.

Updates are automatic, easy to use & configure. Don't listen to those who say it's not..trust me I've seen a lot of programs & this one doesn't take a degree in rocket science to figure out & there are lots of forums for users who want to ask questions...wilders.org & castlecops for two examples.

It scans incoming mail & outbound, Thunderbird, Outlook & Outlook Express just to name three email clients.
Real time web scanning, easily configurable with IM clients such as Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger etc. Constant scanning of files, cabs, compressed files etc.
Also a very important factor that is often overlooked, how soon after a problem occurs does it take for a reply from tech support, in my experiences ESET is fast & no passing the buck like a lot of other anti-virus companies have the reputation for doing or charging fees.

"About ESET

Avast! is all you need, i have had it for quite some time now after experiencing some problems with Norton Anti virus, no regrets on the switch, and the best part is? ITS TOTALLY FREE, i may sound like im just advertising and im sorry, but in your question you did ask for a good program, and avast is the best internet security you can get, and it is free.
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
that is the link, trust me it is nice, its easy to use, many options to choose from, and it even speaks to you like:

"your virus database has been updated"
"A Virus has been detected"
"There is a newer version of Avast available"
among many more, and might i add, that when it finds a virus, like if oyu are installing something that is loading a virus to your computer, instead of just telling you its a virus, it MAKES SURE you do not install it on your computer and instantly stops the installation.

Avast is quality protection for free. just at least check out the link. its not virus :D

Avast 5 is excellent easily as good as any paid for anti-virus, id recommend installing it (link on my profile) updating it, then running a boot scan. Keep it installed to prevent you getting an infection in the future.

For good, free and recommended security programs, please go here

http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/219333/an/0/page/0#219333

I recommend AVG as an anti virus, although eTrust's 12 month free trial is excellent (I'm using it and am extremely impressed).
If you need other programs, go for Zone Alarm firewall, AVG anti spyware (formerly Ewido) and SpywareBlaster.

If you click on the names in that list I gave you and it will take you to the official download site.

Please ensure that you keep them all updated for full protection and check for any updates when you first download them.
