I think ignorance in some cases. In most probably plain old stark raving jealousy.
From me, however, I say "Good on you!"

Size 8 is thin, but not unhealthily thin, especially if you have a small frame. I'm not very tall and a size 12 (UK) and I know I'd look too thin at a size 8, but that doesn't mean I think size 8 is too thin for other people. The problem is some people go by what works for them and assume it applies to everyone else. That is where the ignorance comes from.

I have to endure the same kind of ignorance when some people say at 5ft2, size 12 is too fat. People just need to accept that we are all built differently and as long as you have a health body fat percentage and are happy with yourself, that is all that matters.

Take care : )

A UK Size 8/US Size 4 is definitely not too thin. If you're taking good care of yourself then there's no problem. The problem is when naturally size 12 or 14 women try to diet down to that size or smaller (observe the epidemic of the Size 0 waiflets in Hollywood). A size 8 is perfectly fine and people who have a problem with that probably have a problem.

BMI is a good indication of whether or not your healthy. You also need to remember that size 8 is different around the world so what is a size 8 in one country is often different from size 8 in another country. Its not just a case of saying "size 8 is a healthy size" cause it does depend on the person.
I don't think its either jealousy or ignorance, you have to take into account how sizing differs across different countries and stuff.

It's caused by general misunderstanding in our society about weight, appearance and health. Don't listen to them. It's so common these days to have abnormal body image that having abnormal body image is "normal", as it were.

Good for you for having an appropriate BMI! I hope you'll continue to enjoy good health.
