Depending on the bar or club... FYI .. disco's dead, don't use that term or you'll surely be picked out as a foreigner.
Hollywood nightclubs are big on the Martini scene. Every club will have it's specialty. But be prepared to spend upwards to $20.00 for one at some places.
Guys seem to stay safe with beer. Some go for the basics like rum and cola, jack and cola, 7 & 7.
Girls like fruity, "I don't want to taste the alcohol" drinks. Usually with rum or vodka.
Younger crowds always seem to be amused by the sexual named drinks... sex on the beach, ********, slippery nipple, etc.
My favorite, Jim Black Manahattan straight up. Shaken.
But drink what you like. Just so you know, most bartenders hate making the silly drinks and like sticking with the basics.
Bottoms up!

I didn't know there were still disco clubs. But at any other bar it all depends on what your there for.
Sports Bar = Beer
Dance Club = Vodka&Red Bull or Jager Bombs
Fancy Bars or "Lounges" = Martini's or Wine
Concert venue bars = shots shots & more shots
Kareoke bars = mixed drinks, shots, & ear plugs

Sorry to say, but I've never been to a disco before. But in a bar I like a nice medium style beer: Bass, Killian's Irish Red, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale...or a Jim Beam (bourbon whiskey) and ginger ale.

It is very fashionable right now in the major metropolitan areas to drink Martinis - there are dozens and dozens of different flavored martinis using different fruit flavored liquers and vodka or gin. Shaken with Ice and then strained into a martini glass - some even coat the rim with sugar.
Also the Mojito is very popular - rum, lime and mint

Red Bull and vodka. At clubs (But they don't get that mixing a stimulant with a depressant does nothing)
At bars if it's a nice one check out the menu for the specials. If they are willing to claim its a special, it must be good.

Well I worked at one of the #1 nightspots in Santa Monica, Ca.
And most of my customers love Margaritas, Sour Apple Martinis,
or an Adios Muther F***er & Red Wine.

sparkling mixed beverages are solid like vodka and tonic or gin and tonic. That way in case you commence getting a touch to tipsy, you may continuously purely change to seltzer water with a lime, and none should be the wiser. also, in case you by coincidence spill some on your self or others it would not stain.
