Eat a small energy packed meal at least an hour before you exercise. Like fruit and whole grain wheat toast. After, eat another small energy/protein packed meal and some water. Like a grilled chicken breast and salad and water.

You want to eat light before exercise and you don't "need" to carbload unless you are running a half marathon or exercising for more than an hour. I would try a cup of oatmeal, maybe some strawberries, bananas with a spoonful of whip cream. I personally have something about an hour before, sometimes 45 minutes`.Don't take in too much dairy before your workout. Your post meal could be lean meat, potatoes and greens. I sometimes have a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with lettuce, tomatoes, salt, pepper and ranch dressing. I may have some fruit on the side or a cereal bar. If you are doing intense exercise for 30 minutes in the beginning of your day, I wouldn't worry too much about when you eat, but what you eat. Eat cLEAN,drink plenty of water and 2% or skim milk before every meal. Eat meals and snack two hrs after each meal, such as cereal bars, applesauce with toast, fruit with dip or yogurt.
