I'm a 23-yr. old college graduate & former foster child. I lived back with my foster mom after Hurricane Katrina because I wanted to finish school, & I had no other place to live. I had a misunderstanding with her last August, & the 17-yr. old foster boy punched me in the ear, & the police was called, & they lied on me, saying that I hit him 1st, to protect him, so she can continue to get foster care monetary benefits for him, & they said he had a right to hit me. I didn't hit him at all. I moved out, & I couldn't take all my stuff. I became homeless. Now I found a home, & I asked my foster mom if I can get 1/2 of MY stuff from the house, & she said she has to ask the 17-yr. old boy if it's OK for me 2 get my stuff. Ain't that some baloney? Now how do I have to get a CHILD's permission to get MY things from MY foster mom's house. I was there from age 5 mos. to 18. & from 18 off & on. He's only been there 2 yrs, & she loves him more than me. No fair!

I'd first file a complaint with the Foster Care Service Dept. for what really happened and why she lied. Is that where they really want to be placing kids?

Then I'd contact the police to have an escort and get ALL your things for her house. Not like the 17 year old will lay a hand on you with the cops right there.

I'd walk away from her. She obviously cares more about the money then doing what is right. Sure, she took care of you, but they paid her to do it. A glorified babysitter is all she was in my eyes. If she loved you so much, she would have adopted you and made you hers. Yikes, that means the cash stops flowing, so that's why she didn't.

Good luck Hon.

no she should not have to ask the 17 yr old...thats just wrong and you need to call the police or take her to small claims court. i was a foster parent for 10 yrs and would never favor one child over the other...but then again i didnt do it for the money and spent way more out then was ever paid to me.

Ask for a court order to get your stuff. If you are living with new foster parents, hopefully they can help you through the court process.

It is a very difficult situation as your foster mom may have developed a crush towards the boy though an adopted one. You just forget the belongings and move on, on your own way for your own good.

Honey, call the police and ask for a escort to go over and get your stuff. They will go with you and make sure that she lets you have everything that belongs to you -- plus, it will be documented against her and will go on her record.

That's not right at all. I would call her and make a time for you to go get your things. He should have nothing to do with it.

My feet would hurt if I was in your shoes. I'm size 11.

No, it's not fair. I'd write her off.
