You forgot about the saw.
The longer version is a man is locked in a metal building with a window with unbreakable glass. All you have inside is a table. To get out, you "Look out the window, see what you saw, take the saw, cut the table in half, two halves make a whole and crawls out the hole."
Another version would be:
A man is locked in a metal room with no doors or windows and just a wooden see-saw. He takes the saw, cuts the wood in half & since 2 halves make a whole, he crawls out.

Rub the wooden bench violently creating enough friction to start a fire, using up all of the oxygen in the box, thus causing a vacum, which in turn, causes the metal box to implode. the man would be crushed to death but preserved for eternity in an air-tight environment. Surely it would be found at some point by future archeologists and cut open. HEY PRESTO, man out of box.

Dig a hole in the ground at the edge of the box, use the bench to slip under it and keep the box over the hole and slip out. Tah dahhhhh!
