You can't take certain jobs in the army for colorblindness when you first enlist. My recruiter said that once you are in the army and you change your M.O.S. after reenlisting that you could get a wavier for jobs that you would otherwise not be able to get because of being colorblind.
If i couldn't get 19d b/c I'm colorblind but I enter as an 88m and then change to 19d after a couple of years then they would waiver you me in.

There are certain jobs where colorblindness can not be waivered.

That is not because the Army is being hard but because the ability to actually see all the colors clearly is a vital part of the job. For example, Photo Interpretation. Photos taken by spy planes and satellites sometimes only have subtle differences in shade and/or color that show something is not as it should be. By giving a waiver to a person with colorblindness they would take the chance that something would be missed due to their vision problem, and that could cause the death of troops in the field.

I think your plan to get in, then try to get a waiver to get around the rules indicates you are not a team player. If you get into the Army then stick with the jobs where colorblindness is not an issue. If you "play the system" for your benefit you just might do it to someone else's detriment or death.

Colorblindness will keep you out of 90% of military jobs. Remember the recruiter's job is to get you enlisted. He will tell you ANYTHING to get you enlisted.

Don't believe about the waivers. Check with an Army doctor about that.

Ok, that's a possible solution but just keep in mind that it may not happen.

Colorblindness is a big no go for combat arms. Before you sign up, see if you can talk to an Army Physician's Assistant or an Army Doctor to make sure that can happen. That's the best way to do it. the recruiter will tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign.

Ya, your recruiter is lying to you. If he cant get you one now, what makes you believe that you will be able to get one later on down the road.
Best of Luck
