I have tried about ten different cheesesteak places in Philadelphia and so far Jim's has been the best. Geno's and Pat's weren't good at all.

So I have lived in Philly my entire life and have tried cheesesteaks from Geno's, Pat's, Jim's, Steve's and alot of the Mom and Pop places, so here goes my opinion..... if you are in Philly as a tourist stop by Geno's (Geno's also does a lot for the community, so that would be my choice) and Pat's they have great pictures outside and you kinda get a sense of the whole South Philly experience, you can buy t-shirts and other stuff. If you just want a good steak hit the Mom and Pop places Chink's in NE philly has great steaks. But to be really honest I will NEVER pass up a Steve's prince of steaks as a matter of fact I'm leaving now to pick up my american wit to go!

I would agree with the Mom & Pop answer. The cheesesteak is a delicious sandwhich, but it can either be a ridiculously messy, greasy, huge sandwhich which is to be eaten only once in a while (this is what you'll find at Pat, Genos, Jims) or it can actually be a decent everyday lunch sandwhich that won't kill you, and these are best bought at the food carts.

Of those three...definitely Jim's. Pat's and Geno's are both well thought of because they were originators of the cheese steak...but neither makes a very good cheese steak. Jim's has better condiments then those two...and I like the bread a lot more. They also give you a lot more meat. The best cheese steak i;ve had is at Dellasandros in Roxborough

Of the choices I'd say Jim's. I like the rolls (Amaroso's) and it's fun every once in a while. For the best cheesesteaks, the mom and pop places really are the best.

None of them go to Pittsburgh and get a cheesesteak from Peppis in the Strip...

Anywhere that becomes a tourist destination loses some quality ( starts making money, owner buys house at LBI and spends more time away, etc) I really like Joe's. ( Joe Momma's Juicy Steak) It's in Manayunk.

I've lived in Philly my entire life and have been to all 3.

I will have to say Jim's.

However, STEVE'S PRINCE OF STEAKS is my favorite!
