There are location companies that specialize in this. Yoi should go to your local chamber of commerce that may have locations that specialize in this. If it is a location own by the city or county you will probably need to get permission. Also there are comanies that have acess to mansions where you can have a wedding.

A good friend of mine got married in a beautiful county park, in a gazebo which overlooks a nice little lake. My sister got married on the beach, my brother is getting married in a small, non-denominational chapel that's attached to the reception hall (they got a whole package deal on the wedding.) I've been to weddings in backyards, in hotel ballrooms, you name it, any place you can set up some chairs to make an aisle, you can get married there. Be creative, but above all, be yourself! If you're not the outdoors type, then getting married in a park might not be for you, but if you're really into theater, many theaters will rent their space for weddings. Go to theknot.com, you can do searches by your location, and you'll find all sorts of places to have a wedding that you hadn't even thought about! Good luck!

You or your fiance have a hobby? Like to go to a particular event or place?

Depending on the size & whether you want it indoors or outdoors, you can have a ceremony at a park, lodge, farm, orchard, yacht, cruise ship (& no captains can't legally marry a couple) museum, Art gallery, beach, B&B, ranch, garden, home, even the venue where you plan to hold your reception; which is becoming quite popular.

We got married in a really nice park overlooking a lake in the fall, when fall foliage (by chance) was at its peak for the season. Our guests walked through a covered bridge over a creek that fed the lake to get to the ceremony. Parking was limited, so we had family members driving vans. They picked up people at the main parking lot in the park and drove them to the site. It was beautiful.

A beach would be nice.
My cousin got married in a public garden, the cost was minimal and it was beautiful. The guests stood, and the couple got married under the gazebo. String instrument music. Short & Sweet!

for a big wedding - castle bit fairytale like, beach if u love sun sand and sea, countryhouse type place - gd background for photos and easy for guests to find sumwhere to stay.
smaller wedding - go abroad, dont tell anyone then u can do whatever you like. vows r very different in diff countries eg in Italy civil ceremony all about family and togetherness (not just religious).
All depends on how many ppl u want and how traditional.

You can get married any place that has special meaning to you. For example, my cousin got married on Jones Beach because that's where she met her husband. Then, I heard of a couple that got married while parachuting off a plane because they shared a love for the sport. It must have been tough to find a preacher who was willing to parachute with them.

I'm looking at botanical gardens for my wedding. Some of them are really nice & some have cafes or other appropriate areas for a reception, too. Of course, you have to be sure they have facilities in case of rain, too... I'm also checking out historical museums. Some even mention that they host weddings on their website, usually under "events" or some such tag. Good luck!
