first thing get a crate for the puppie. he will have to go out after he plays, sleeps and eats. like about every 2 to 3 hours. Also get on the Internet and look up akc.org you should find information on that subject. the crate is when you can not watch him.

Keep him on a regular feeding schedule. Let him out every half hour. Some people say hourly but my 10 week old puppy could never hold it that long. Also, for the last 2 weeks I've had bells hanging by the door where he can reach them. I used his paw a couple of times on them whenever I opened the door. He now rings them when he has to go out. It's pretty awesome.

At night some people tie the puppy off next to there bed so they can let him out in the middle of the night. I was too lazy for that, my dog sleeps in a crate at night, so for the first couple of weeks I left paper in the front of the crate and he would pee there. He's now able to go through the night without peeing in his crate. But I also pick up his water an hour before bedtime. Good Luck.

Hi there,

the main thing is the potty training. To house-break him the easiest and fastest way, bring him outside, the moment he wakes up, is done playing or eating and before bed time. Always use the same word to "Make him go"....Like go ahead "pee". If he does it sooner or later, praise him for it or give him a small treat. My German Shephard knew, I was in a rush, when I took her out later and told her "pee", she would do her business right away. When I didn't say anything, she took her time...
If he has an accident in the house (which is then your fault not the dogs, because you didn't take him out in time...), tell him a stern "no" and take him outside...In all you do, be consequent. A "NO" today must always be a "NO" tomorrow as well.

If you are training him to go on paper spread the paper out somewhere convenient so he can get to it easy. That is so he can find it. Several places is better than one place.

Watch him and when he starts to use the bathroom on the floor grab him and rub his nose in it then put him on the paper so he can finish going..

There is also some potty training sprays you can buy at the pet store to spray on the paper. It helps him to know where to go as well. Basically you spray it on the paper and put him on the paper. Then when he starts going follow the same procedure of putting him on the paper after rubbing his nose in it.

It is going to take awhile because puppies are like babies in respect to being able to control themselves. But he will gradually get to where he can control himself long enough to make it to the paper. Then you can get him a box to go in after he gets big enough to get in and out of the box.

If he is stubborn about it roll up a piece of newspaper and swat his butt while you are rubbing his nose in it. You want just enough rolled up to make a loud popping sound when you swat him be not thick enough that it will actually hurt. And remember he is a small puppy. What might not feel like it hurts to you when you swat your hand if could hurt him so be careful about that and don't use it if you don't have to.

if your puppy "goes" In the house don't scold it they dont know what they did wrong . Just clean it up & if you can take it & the puppy outside & show it where you want it go . Also watch your puppy closely , if it starts sniffing in circles take it to the door & ask it if it wants to go out , then take it out until it goes . I have always had good luck with traing this way . You can also train it to paper insted of outside . just show it where .

Most of the above answers are good, Personally, I wouldn't paper train you are teaching the dog that its okay to go in the house.
