We used Dimetap for all three of our kids. It worked well for congestion, cough, etc. For really bad coughing, we would use Delsym which is only a cough supressant.
Watch your dosing... too much can cause your child to become very anxious/nervous/excitable. We accidently doubled the dose once -- two parents + no chart of times when the medicine was given = bad -- and our poor son couldn't sleep or even relax for about 4 hours.

My little one is a little over 3 1/2 and I give her Tylenol Cold and Allergy --- it seems to work pretty good for the congestion, runny nose, etc. The best cough medicine in my opinion is Delsym, you only need to give like 1/2 teaspoon and it lasts all night, even works on us adults too !

No fever - use dimetapp cold and cough.
If there is just a bad cough - Delysum is fantastic. My four yr. old gets it before bed and there is not a cough out of her for 12 hrs!!!! I recommend it highly- my pediatrician did.

Children's Tylenol tablets or liquid. They have various types designed for a specific condition. Pharmacies have a broader selection, not corner stores.

TRIAMINIC IS WONDERFUL.MY DAUGHTER WAS FEELING PRETTY BAD, AND I TRIED EVERYTHING OVER THE COUNTER:TYLENOL,MOTRIN,ETC.
THIS WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT WORKED FAST.
IF YOU HAVE A SAM'S CLUB CARD,BUY IT OVER THERE.IT'S CHEAPER AND IT COMES IN TWO BOTTLES,FOR DAY AND NIGHT RELIEVE.
GOOD LUCK.
