Okay, I'm not a doctor. But I have had family in the hospital.

There are the risks that come with possibly tripping over stuff, of course. Then you need to be very aware of infections, especially those that might be resistant to antibiotics. So you need to make sure to keep things VERY clean, up to and including your hands.

Cleanliness I would say.
Having spent quite a lot of time in a particular London teaching hospital I was amazed at the lack of cleaning. Especially the toilets, to be avoided at all costs. I used a commode in there and it was far cleaner than the toilets!!!
Make sure you always use the alcohol hand scrub regularly.

Cross infection. Wash your hands. No plants for infection.
Then beware of touching equipment you know nothing about.
Don't sit on the bed, again for infection.
No smoking in the building.
It also depends on he type of ward, Is it a heart ward? Orthopaedic? or Intensive Care?
Don't ignore spillages as the floor is very smooth and so easy to slip on.
When in doubt ask a nurse.

Make sure you or anyone with you doesn't have any illnesses, colds, etc. Patients in a hospital are vulnerable. I think all hospitals have a policy against brining in latex balloons due to so many people having allergies to latex. Check with the hospital before bringing plants or flowers....unless they are silk flowers or plants.Remeber that it is a hospital and people are trying to rest, so try to keep your voices down.

Mistaken identity ! Open wounds. Infections. Guard rails off bed.
Roaches. Lack of nursing staff and cleaners mostly. But don't worry most patients get out alive!
