if you have a new hd tv there are actual computer imputs, such as: vga, dvi. also connection options vary dependant on your graphics card, which you can upgrage. Upgrading can give you component, s-video, composite. ect..

I just bought a new tv, and it has a usb port, where I can plug my monitor directly into the tv. Then when I turn my computer on, the computer image will show up on my tv screen. But you really should have a tv, that is built to be used as a computer monitor.

your going to need a special video card with a video out component, or your tv needs a computer plug like a dvi. the cheapest solution would be to get an adaptor that goes from a dvi plug to a video component plug. but the picture won't be as good. the best solution is a tv with a dvi plug. this gets you the best picture and sometimes with the other solutions, the picture won't fit perfectly on the screen. i have a nvidia 7800 gtx video card. gets me a hd picture on my tv.
