I am 13 years old and 5'4. At first I was like120 and I felt really bad about it so I just wanted to lose a lot of weight. So then I stopped eating and started drinking water all the time and going to these websites and getting tips. Then I was 113 and my mommy started watching me really closley and making me eat and now I'm like back to about 118 and I'm starting to feel bad again and I've been wanting to cut really bad and not eat, but I haven't been cutting cuz that would be to obvious and my mom would see it, so i'm just trying to lose weight again. I don't feel bad about losing weight either because I know that it's something that I need to do, but I'm not susposed to do. What should I do??

I think you need to talk to your mom about how you feel and ask her to help you get councelling.

First google for a BMI Calculator as this will tell you if you are underweight -> healthy or the latter which you aren't. Either way is not a good way to cope you should really talk to someone about it. If it's not your parents talk to a doctor who can help you. You're only 13 and you have so much to live for. The lowest I got was 110 pounds and I was 5ft9 at the time and I was 23 so because of your age, height and weight it's most likely you may have an eating disorder but not neccessarily anorexia as it's always different with the individual and until you get seen by a doctor who will maybe refer you to a psychiatrist, then it's not a very good option to be diagnosing yourself. If you are obsessing over food heaps and it starts to control your thinking then I would really seek help. Please seek a doctor's opinion.

Hey hon- I'm a mom of 4 and just happened to come across this and felt a need to reach out to you, I actually have a 13 yr old son and 3 grown daughters, one who had an eating disorder. Sweetie it really sounds like you need someone to talk to. If you don't feel like you can talk to your parents find another adult that you can talk to who might be able to help. Feeling bad about your weight is something many people your age go through but the idea of you cutting is something you need help with, maybe some underlying issues. Please value yourself for YOU!!

It sounds like you are at a good weight for your height. Please don't let the media, friends or anyone else influence what you think your weight should be. At your age your body is going through so many things that are 'new' to you. Nutrition is SO important right now as you are just becoming a woman. If your body does not get the proper nutrition at this important stage of development it can cause problems later on.

I had trouble with anorexia..I dont really think u are though...drinking a lot of water is good but u also gain water weight that way..when i was anorexic i was taking appetite suppresants and if i was forced to eat i would eat 3 grapes or a piece of lettuce and then work out like crazy. If ur anorexic ur mind will tell u DO NOT eat and thats that..even if ur forced to eat, u will pick at ur food....maybe ur on the verge of becoming anorexic?

cutting off food and drinking water is the pathway to the psychic disease anorexia...you can lose weight only if u followed a health and well done diet that u can get from a dietitian...it changes ur life style and makes u upside down and of course u'll lose weight. and stay healthy...don't go anorexic cuz its a dangerous disease that may cause torture and death...

Anorexia usually consists of the person that has it to be EXTREMELY skinny, you are still at a healthy weight for your height and therefore are probally not anorexic. Being anorexic is a serious mental problem. If you really want to lose weight you should do it the HEALTHY way. By just eating healthy foods (like fruits and veggies). Hope this helps, and I would recommend talking to your school guidance counsler.

Honey, 120 is a good weight for your hieght. Don't try to lose weight. If you're not anorexic, you're so close it's not funny.

Talk with your mother and see what can be done to fix this damaging self-image you seem to have.

Good luck.

Seek out help from your school psychologist or social worker/guidance counselor. You need professional help and to talk about this with people who are trained. I think you definately have some issues. Feel better. I am sure you look great, don't worry about that.
