It depends on where the income came from. W-2 income would be considered wages.

She can probably file as single with the 1040-EZ or 1040-A. Just be sure she does NOT claim herself as a dependent. There is a place to mark that she is carried on another return.

When she does the calculations her taxes due will probably be -0- or close and she'll get the taxes withheld from her checks returned.

The IRS.gov web site is worth a look. Publication 501 has most of the information you'll be looking for. FAQs are useful too.

She has to file her own return, requesting a refund of her withholding.....just make sure she marks on HER return that she CAN and IS being claimed as a dependent on another tax return.

And if she is single with no dependents, it will be a 1040EZ form

have her fill out a 1040ez, but she cannot take the personal exemption because you are claiming her.
