THC into cannabis is different and depends, on the period of cultivation, soil, minerals, temperature and of course the spp. of cannabis !
cannabis sativa sativa is the most common, very high plant, USA is he biggest producer in the world (Canada second) major cultivation in California and Oregon, repalcing the hazelnut cultivation. It's used for ropes for the Navy for example.
Very low THC, Europe variant extremely low.

Cannabis sativa indica, common in Morocco, Europe, and all the countries in the persian Gulf, (islam religion say that Alcohol is prohibited, but not marjuana)
Higher THC, commonly smoked.
There is the Chineese version of this plant, nreeded and cultivated with cannabis indica, that is higher in potency.

Cannabis indica, small plant, cultivated in all Asia because it's nice plant for the garden (nice white and pink flowers) and is not bigger than a bush.
HIghest potency, commonly smoked.

Street names are not directly linked to the spp., but can vary also on the location of cultvation and are different even in different Countries. So I really dunno what the hell is purple haze.

different types of marijuana can have diifferent effects on the smoker resulting in different kinds of "highs". Purple haze and white widow are both very good strains of marijuana which are still sold at the same prices, however the buyer may get less weed for that same price. The "common one" would depend where you live i guess but some common ones are haze and dro.
