Simple answer for you..
The mini-hot dogs and "lil smokies" and such are almost always pre-cooked. it should say on the package. In such a case, all you gotta do is get em hot.
So, basically grab a bunch of em, toss em in the slow cooker an hour or two before you plan on munching, set em on a medium heat, and pour in enough of your favorite BBQ sauce to cover em. They should be hot, delicious, and ready to go when you're ready to eat em. I wouldn't let them sit for more than oh, 5-6 hours though, tops, as they'll start to break down and get all fugly on you..
If you're looking for things to add some kick to the sauce, the sky's the limit.. Your basic seasonings, like Garlic Powder and Onion Powder will add their classic flavor to the sauce.. A couple shots of a good Bourbon Whiskey will also add a kick.. (I'm partial to Maker's Mark for that role, personally). If you want heat, toss in some cayanne pepper. If you're wanting something unusual, stir in some sweet curry powder.
As for good snacks to go with it... I recommend an assortment of cubed cheeses and meats... like baby swiss, colby-jack, and a good sharp cheddar, chunked up.. for meats, some chunked up summer sausage and chunked up pepperoni usually go well... these can be served on a tray or in bowls, and accompanied by some crackers for making little sandwich bits... OR.. if you want to go a little wild.. get a box of round toothpicks and put a hunk of cheese, a piece of fresh pineapple, a hunk of meat, and a half a marischino cherry on each toothpick.. sounds odd, but the flavor combination is quite interesting and tasty.
Nachos are another great superbowl classic.. My recipe is a bit simple, but we like it... Brown up some ground beef seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion, and a little cayanne pepper... for extra oomph remove the casing from a choriso sausage (mexican or spanish.. one or the other is available in most supermarkets) and add the meat inside in with the ground beef... Once it's all browned up, drain the oil, add a jar of good salsa, a can or two of nacho cheese, and mix.. Dump over a giant plate of tortilla chips.
Or, for something a little fancy... Get a pound of Prosciutto (a fancy air-cured italian ham available in most major supermarkets at the deli counter) sliced paper thin, and a few cans of those Pillsbury Crescent rolls.. separate out the rolls from the can, place a couple of slices of prosciutto on them, roll them up, sprinkle with parmesean cheese, and bake.. makes a tasty little ham-cheesy crescent roll thing.
