It is not cabana... it is lots of plants and whicker furniture. Also usually people like to mix in some tribal masks. Is it mediteranian? It's really popular. I'm trying to describe it to my mom for her bedroom.

Many decors now incorporate certain elements from Mediterranean, African and tropical styles all into one space. These decors, or themes, become impossible to name accurately, so the best term is actually "exotic". From there, you can use adjectives to clarify further. You are right: this look has gained in popularity. If it's done right, your mom should love it.

I suspect it has various names depending on who is trying to promote and sell it, and the location.

It could be called Primitive, neo-Primitive, Island Time, etc. etc, etc.

A great look for anyone who enjoys it as I do. I suspect Mediteranian wouldn't exactly fit, since tribal more suggests the Continent of Africa, or South America.

This sounds more like African than mediterranean. African or Sahara themes generally feature wicker or bamboo furnishings in conjunction with the tribal masks that you spoke of. They also feature lots of green plants such as palms.

I've seen it at several hotels/resorts in Africa. I don't know what hte style is called, but it's very much a safari thing. The best example I saw was at the safari park hotel in Nairobi. If you go with that style, think about birds of paradise flowers.
