Before I asnwer the original question of "how I like it," let's do a quick review of Vista, because it seems a lot of people are in the dark in terms of what's available.
You have 4 versions of Vista on the market: Basic, Premium, Ultimate, and Business.
I have upgraded to Vista Ultimate and love it. Vista Ultimate, however, is not for everyone. Most home computer users will want the Premium, because the only thing you get with Ultimate that you don't get with Premium is "Drive Encryption". That is key for me because I'm using a Laptop with a lot of personal data, and I feel much safer doing so with the drive encryption feature. But as far as I've seen, that's the only feature I got over the Premium.
Now... something of note in terms of security.... from what I understand, the companies that publish virus protection software are still scrambling to finish their beta versions of virus protection software that will work with Vista, because what I bought off the shelf DOES NOT WORK. I've tried Nort and Mc so far, but rumor has it that there is a downloadable "work-around" available for the Trend-micro product called "PC-cillin". I have yet to confirm this so proceed with caution.
In terms of Virus protection, you could use the Microsoft product "Live Onecare" or whatever it's called, but something just doesn't sit well with me as a consumer of a company is going to put an OS on the market and then turn around and say.... "oh, by the way, here is the additional software/service you need to go along with that to protect your system."
As far as price goes, a friend of mine works at Best Buy and he said that it's a "vendor-controlled" price which means you will pay the same price wherever you buy the software, unless you can find it OEM.
Hope this helps... I love the Ultimate version but if you are not on a laptop you probly won't need it... go with the premium and check with someone on the virus protection, because that situation is likely to change each day for the next couple weeks.

I've been beta testing Vista for the last year and I can tell you that it is absolutely fine, easy to use and much more secure than XP. Make sure you download new Vista-compatible software and updated drivers for your hardware. It is very easy to install (about 20-30 mins) but I suggest not to activate automatically - wait until you are happy with the installation first (you have 30 days). Also do a clean install if you can as it's the best way to do it. The new Windows Firewall is enough but you will need anti-virus (CA Anti-virus are doing a FREE year's subscription for Vista users at the moment).

why would anyone want to get Vista do your home work and find out just what problems there is with it, On the first day of it's release there was 22 Updates and thats for starters, and MS still have not got XP right and it has been out 5 years...
plus you need I high end computer to run it which is going to cost you more money
Look for other FREE opratings systems there are plenty out there, That leave MS in the dark.... do a web search for Linux and do yourself a favor
