There is no such thing as MSG disease. What you are asking about is an allergy to Monosodium Glutamate, a flavor enhancer found in many prepared foods and commonly used in Chinese restaurants. The symptoms of this allergy are like a mild flu without fever. You can check packages and can labels for MSG and order food prepared without it. There is no nutritional value to MSG. It is just a flavor enhancer.

Monosodium glutamate is a flavor enhancer added to processed food. Any restaurant can add it to their food, but Chinese restaurants tend to do it more than most. Although professional opinion is divided, there are numerous reports of people getting sick after ingesting food with high amounts of MSG. Symptoms include headache, flushing, sweating, facial tightness, numbness around the mouth, heart palpitations, chest pain and shortness of breath. These symptoms are usually transient and resolve without other intervention.

Processed and canned foods that you buy may contain MSG. You just have to check the label.
