It depends on how you see the cosmology.
My view is as follows
The Divine: All encompassing, is in everything and everything is in it.
The God(s): The Divine's way of communicating with us on a level that we can understand.

It seems that there are only a few religions that believe there is only a single God, the rest have no problem with different people having their own.

The OT never says there is only one God, it tells the Hebrews to worship no other God, big difference.

The NT, Jesus Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Since it was known to Jesus that there were other religions, some that had a mother Goddess, it seems that this too was only pointed at those who followed Yahweh.

This is what I dont understand from the concept of 'gods and goddesses'

If they are all simply aspects of One Divinity, which I believe, then why isnt there a Single Divine than a bunch of gods and goddesses?

In other words, why do people waste their time worshipping gods and goddesses instead of the One.

Maybe because humans like to divide instead of unite?

The real question is, who do you chose to be?

And I also want to know why people give thumbs down to an honest opinioniated answer.

I know that this is something that I have heard in hinduism and in paganism. I believe is similar to saying that God has many attributes. Though I do not call God goddess or Gods... I respect your point of view :)

I don't doubt the sincerity of people who believe in many gods and goddesses; I have traveled extensively in those areas of the world. I have also found in our conversations that many of them are honestly searching for the truth.

At the same time, as a Christian, my heart goes out to them, because I know they will never find what they are seeking as long as they stay on that road. Only the one true God can satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart, and only He can give us answers to our deepest questions about life and death. The Bible says, "Do men make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!" (Jeremiah 16:20).

Why do I believe in one supreme God instead of many gods? One reason is because it is logical. Where did the world come from? No idol could make us, nor could a thousand different gods and goddesses with limited power. Only God could make us—one who is all-powerful, all-knowing and all-loving. As the Bible says, "The heavens declare the glory of God" (Psalm 19:1).

But I also believe in one supreme God because He has revealed Himself to us! He has not left us to guess what He is like; He has shown Himself to us. He did this supremely by coming down to earth in the person of His only Son, Jesus Christ. I invite you to give your life to Christ, for in Him alone "are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3).

Well, pagan earthgirl, whatever gods and goddesses you are referring to, whether they be of one divinity or not, the question you ask should really be, Can they save my butt? For your sake, I really hope they can. I say that sincerely.

I don't know that you think this 'one divinity' is but I suspect that is just as non-existent as the rest of the gods you heap together.

No. There is ONE GOD, only ONE GOD, and HE has a NAME: Yahweh, (or Jehovah), and Jesus is His Son, The Messiah.

How many Names do you have, and may I call you by a Name I make up for you, ignoring The Name you already have, and expect you to answer to it ?
