If you were weighed on different scales, one (or both) could be out of calibration.
If you are a runner, it's very very unlikely you have congestive heart failure to account for water accumulation.
That leaves the possibility of kidney disease. Any abnormal urine color? Is your blood pressure normal?
If your blood pressure is normal and you feel fine, why don't you check your weight each morning on the same scale for a few days and see what is happening to your weight. Try to keep other variables the same, like water intake and amount of exercise. If weight increase continues, you will rapidly start to feel sluggish and should see a doctor.

Keep doing what you are doing. When you start weight lifting, you will gain weight, because muscle weighs more than fat. It also makes a big difference what time of day you weigh. Try to weigh at the same time of day each time. Also, your clothes can make a big difference. You would be surprised how much your clothes can weigh. It will also make a big difference if you eat something salty the day before you weigh. Try to keep an eye on the sodium content of your food. I am sure that you are doing fine, probably just a number of factors. Weigh again next week and you should be pleasantly surprised.

Water is very heavy if you think about it. It weighs over eight pounds per gallon. If you are full water and it's being retained, it's very easy to add a lot of weight, but none of it's fat.
