Pear Sauce

1 hour 20 min prep
10 cups pears, peeled, cored and halved
cinnamon (opitional)

1.Place pears in a microwave bowl with a lid, leave lid off of the bowl just a bit.
2.Microwave on High for 20 minutes.
3.Check to see how tender they are, if tender use a masher and mash them, if not return to microwave for another 20 minutes.
4.Do not mash fine, as you want it to be chuncky.
5.Keep repeating step 2 until the juice has been decreased by 75%. Watch that it does not burn.
6.Put into plastic containers and freeze.

Ice Cream with Kiwi Sauce

For added color, dice some strawberries and use as a garnish.

2 kiwis, peeled and diced
4tbsp sugar
juice of 1 lemon
1/2 gallon ice cream, preferable strawberry

Set aside some diced kiwi and sprinkle them with lemon juice.

Prepare the kiwi sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining kiwi 1/2 cup of water, the sugar and lemon juice and bring to a boil. Cook for 15 minutes and remove from heat. Pass the kiwi sauce through a sieve to remove any lumps and set aside to cool slightly.

To serve, arrange three scoops each of the strawberry ice cream into 4 individual serving bowls and drizzle with the kiwi sauce. Garnish each bowl with some of the diced kiwi and serve immediately. Serves 4

Boredom sprouts entrepeneurs... why not start a specialty sauce? Those would be great to add to cocktails.

It's not stupid. They do make those. I've seen them at food trade shows. You can get about every flavor under the sun.
