Yes. Theoretically we all should put on the brakes and stop when the light is yellow, but in reality the camera makes it more likely to happen.

Not me personally, but yes knowing "someone" is watching tends to make people alittle more conscious of their actions.
Here in Houston, the been putting up red-light cameras everywhere and putting the fear of God in some people. I say some cause if you are a habitual red-light runner you have no regard for the rules of the road or anyone else on it and you just don't care.

Me personally, I always try to stop at a yellow, if I can safely.
If I'm going to fast to stop and not have the car behind me go through me, then I will go through. I've never had a violation for either so I guess I doing something right.

I don't run yellows anyway because so many idiots rush the green and are racing off the stoplight, Running thru a yellow while not being illegal is certainly dangerous. But if I KNEW there was a camera, YES it would deter me. Which is the point I think. Police are much more interested in preventing accidents than issuing tickets. They really don't like scraping you off of the pavement and they don't forget stuff like that.

No, the knowledge that the yellow light means the light is about to turn red is what discourages me from running a 'yellow'.

Once you realize it means slow down and prepare to stop, not speed up and get it while you can, the red light cameras won't bother you a bit. And your wallet will thank you.

No. In fact it encourages me to at least think about blowing the red light. Similarly, I used to wear my seat belt all the time, until they made it a law. As if the government should be passing laws that effect my life or that they are even greatly concerned about this. Sorry, I was about to go on a tangent there. I do think it is interesting that Sweden has very few stop signs; they put up yield signs just about everywhere that americans would put up a stop sign. In america, we treat stop signs as if they are yield signs, driving half way into an intersection before stopping.

Yes, but I don't anyway. When the light changes to yellow and you are not entering the intersection you must stop. However, always look in your mirror to make sure the car behind you isn't counting on you going through so they can run it too.

yes it does,i own a repair shop, and don't need to be getting tickets in the mail and those things are all over the place now,and besides ,we really don't need to be in that big of a hurry anyway,if I'm running that late getting somewhere a few extra seconds aren't going to help me that much, but yes i always look up at the light now to see if its yellow or not,i actually think they might help make a few people better drivers ,at least it will make them think about it before they do it,good luck ,i hope this help,s.

It all depends on if I am in a rush or not. Are they really going to send me a ticket for running the yellow light?

Not really. I'm looking at the light and the traffic, not the camera.

working at a police station has discouraged me from running yellows, unless there is no way i can stop safely.
