After reading the answers to questions similar to yours over the last month I decided to try AVG Antivirus. After a week I noticed my PC going a lot slower. After two weeks it was so slow I knew I had problems to sort out.

Cutting a long story short, my local PC shop advised me to get rid of AVG and go back to McAfee; but in the meantime to download Stinger to check what was on my PC. I had 5 viruses, and when these were wiped clean, I reinstalled my McAfee Antivirus and lo and behold my PC is now running like a greyhound again. This goes to prove that McAfee was a lot better than AVG.

I had a virus attack my nortons it prevented me from going on the internet completely. I have used AVG ever since and never had a problem it is free and it updates itself automatically.

I also use Comodo as the firewall this is also free and very reliable

I have used Norton for a few years, last week my computer started acting strange, I took it to the shop and they found a virus on it, so I guess Norton isn't all it's cracked up to be

Switch to Linux - it's totally immune to viruses, malware, spyware etc, and is perfectly safe with no security software running. All it needs is a firewall, and that comes built-in with most Linux distributions. Check out Distrowatch http://www.distrowatch.com
