The Superbowl is a worldly event. I'm not saying it's wrong to watch it. I'll definitely watch it, but I don't believe it has a place in the church. And, actually, my church doesn't like rock (even contemporary christian music, though I listen anyway). We sing from hymns at church. How could a church like mine, in good concience, display Billy Joel and Prince? Not to mention the beer commercials and the near nudity that comes with those. The people at my church wouldn't normally let their kids see those things on tv, why would the Superbowl be any different. If a church is going to have a party, they need to take it to someone's home or someplace like Dennys. They ought not corrupt the church with that which is less than holy! What would Jesus do? He wouldn't bring the Superbowl into his temple!

Go Colts!

My chuch loves modern music, rock and roll, the super bowl (there throwing a party). I have a very modern church, cause it aims more at the young adult.

In some churches, there is a separate area; in which things like the Super Bowl would be viewed. It is usually called a Fellowship Hall.

I agree that the Super Bowl should not be viewed inside the santuary. But to say that Christian adults can't get together, in a different part of the church building and see the Super Bowl; is not your decision to make. You are JUDGING the actions of those people - which is not your place to do. Judging is to be left to God.

I agree that people such as Billy Joel or Prince, should not be displayed in churches or their music sung in a service. However, songs from Christian artists are not typical rock music - have you ever heard of ::: Michael W. Smith, Petra, Audio Adrenaline, Sonicflood, Jars of Clay, Mary Mary, Point of Grace, Relient K, or Pillar?

All of the above are Christians, who have been given the gift of music; by God. How can anyone say that their songs are NOT to be listened to or sung as part of a church service? Again, you are JUDGING others.

What would Jesus Christ say about passing judgment on others?

If they are watching in the "common" room, or social area which most churches have, then why not? I do not think it will happen at the alter in any church. Services would take place before the game and maybe after too.

*The church is not a building, but the people. In Christianity the church is Christians. Besides that is just proof of who and what their God really is. think about it, if they were true to the God of the bible would they put such importance in football, but if their God is football, then they are just being true to their God.*

i think that you should talk to someone about it, like your pastor, he is only human, someone needs to hold him accountable, let him know what you think and that they dont even believe in christian rock why would they bring in regular rock such as billy joel and prince. and let him know about the golden calf too. it is your reaponsibility as a christian, to show other christians if they are doing wrong.
