Has anyone ever ordered Omaha Steaks? We ordered the bacon-wrapped filet mignon and ate it last night. It was absolutely horrible! One of the worst steaks I'd ever had. Tasted freezerburned and had no flavor whatsoever. I'd prefer to buy the filet at the local grocery store. I had heard great things about Omaha Steaks before and a friend said to call them and complain and they would send out 2 more. But honestly if they always taste that bad there is no reason to call--I really don't ever want to eat another one that tastes like that. Have you ordered from Omaha Steaks? What did you think--good or bad? I don't want people just blindly agreeing with me. and Have you ever had a complaint and dealt with the customer service?

We ordered from them once. Some package of steaks and twice bakeds, hot dogs, and something else. They were packaged correctly, but the steaks and hotdogs were totally thawed! Well that's because it was overnighted to be here on a Friday, but UPS didn't deliver them until Monday! So not Omaha Steak's fault. We called and explained. They were ready to replace the ENTIRE order, but we said the other stuff was still frozen, so just the steaks and hotdogs. They were here the next day in perfect condition.

Their customer service is great. And to tell the truth, we liked the food. We'll probably buy from them again when they have that package deal. Otherwise they're overpriced.

Omaha Steaks, are normally quite good. However, you do not get perfect meat every time, from anywhere. But, thier customer service has been among the best anywhere, and they do not like to upset customers, on the phone or with bad meat.
But, I have never heard anyone say they recieved anything from Omaha Steak, that had freezer burn. They do not have meat in freezers long enough for that.
There could be several reasons why you can get that type of taste, that have nothing to do with the (fillet) meat.
The type of bacon, or the bacon, an oven that needs cleaning, and a good rinsing afterwards, dishes that did not get rinsed quite the way they should have, over cooking, cooking too slowly.
You see, when using uncooked bacon on other meats, the bacon needs to cook (to a crisp) before the steak is cooked the way you like it. So the rarer you like your steak, the hotter the oven or grill needs to be.
To avid this, and still enjoy the bacon flavor, cook the bacon, and use the bacon fat for the flavoring.

every town has a butcher shop somewhere. not as out front as they used to be. someone in town has a great rep (hopefully). that's where you want to buy your meat. omaha steaks is just another mailorder house, not really a place to buy good food.

came in a nice box though, didn't they? yeah? you paid for that box. and the shipping and handling. packaging, shipping and handling is where they make the money. doesn't really matter what's inside the box. hometown butcher will depend on providing a good product and good service. of course you probably only get plain brown (or white) butcher paper wrapping. always buy local if possible.

Omaha steaks at the instantaneous are not very solid at in touch by my area. i grow to be given some as samples and that i grow to be very disenchanted on the straightforward high quality and style of the beef. I do better effective at my community butcher and performance even offered much better effective rib eyes at Costco for decrease than 2/third's the fee.

I did business with them once. It was uneventful. I was not impressed with anything they had to offer after that one time. I ordered 4 ribeye steaks (which is the greatest steak in the world). I could have just ran to the grocery store and got the same thing and probably cheaper and safer. I would cut your losses and move on (obviously). What are you guys having for dinner tomorrow?

What they call filet mignon is a joke. I just ate one and it was little better than a ribeye. I cut gristle off from it. Come on! Rip off!

I did contact the company about the quality and they sent 2 replacement filets which were only a little better than the originals.

Buy local! Visit your local butcher.

Call customer service and explain to them your dissatifaction. If they offer to replace the item, tell them that you do not want the same product, but would like to try something else of equal value. Good luck.

I have also heard people rave about them and considering the price I guess they should ! I would Complain loudly I'm pretty sure the company will try hard to satisfy you, they have been around way too long to just be some fly by night ripoff!
