My mashed potatoes usually have lumps in and they still taste like potato. My children, bless them, say that the lumps at least prove it's real and home made.

If the lumps are from the organic potato then it should taste like the potato. If you have been mixing dehydrated powder with water..it will not taste natural.

Not sure what you think they taste like...
If they are real potatoes you've cooked, then what you are eating IS nothing BUT boiled potato - what it doesn't taste like would be the cream and butter and other additions put in for making them creamy and rich.
Cheers

Properly mashed potatoes don't have lumps. Perhaps they are angel's eggs?

I've never noticed that. I love lumps in my potatoes if they're homemade. I even leave the skins on. I love the texture they give.
