I'm doing our wedding right now for a guest list of 125 for under $1,600.00
Here's how--
1-NO SITE FEES- We're having the ceremony and reception in my parents back yard. I purchased 4 party tents (the white ones w/windowed side walls) off ebay for about $500.
2-NO RENTAL FEES- Tables and chairs are being borrowed from our church for just a small donation.
3-NO CATERES- We're doing a "Family Favorites" buffet having family members supply "those certain" dishes that they are known for making so well. Then I'm going to print out little table tents saying who made what.
4-NO FLORIST/DECORATORS- I'm just going to carry a single red rose tied w/a ribbon and streamers, my maid of honor a white one. Making my own centerpieces, which I have TONS of ideas/designs that can all be done for less than $5-$8 each, feel free to email me for ideas if you'd like!
5-DON'T ORDER INVITATIONS- Cheaper to print your own...utilize your local discount stores...I found wedding invitation kits that will make 40 for $2.99 per kit at my local Ollies discount store. They also had kits for Thank you cards that make 80 for $4.99. Basically I only spent about $11 for all my invites and Thank You cards.
6-NO D.J.- Download your favorite songs onto a laptop, mp3 or ipod..hook up some speakers...there you go! I've seen it done at 2 other weddings and it worked really well.
7-KEEP AN OPEN MIND!!!! Don't get "stuck" on certain ideas/patterns/items....you'd be amazed how much EASIER it all falls together if you just sort of "roll with it"...it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to sacrifice anything, just be willing to bend.
I have TONS of money saving ideas....if there are any certain areas that you need or would want some suggestions for...feel free to email me!

The average in the US is around $25k to $30k. But what it costs is dependent upon several things: your location (costs are higher in New York City than Kansas), the number of guests you have, what type of reception you have, and how much you want to spend on other things like flowers, limos, dresses, etc. I'm in a higher priced area, but not quite as pricey as New York, and the best deal I could find for decent food at a typical banquet hall (nothing particularly lavish but it is clean & has good food) was $50 per person before tax and gratuity. There are folks here on YA who have managed a nice dinner reception for under $20 per person. So multiply those rates by 100 guests and my costs are at $5k and someone else's are only $2k - - it can make a HUGE difference if you have alot of guests and are in a pricey area. Also, where you live there may be different norms for what a wedding reception should be. Some people have just cake & punch. Others have 5-course sitdown dinners. Most people fall somewhere in-between.

The Vegas wedding chapels? You can get something nice for not much, out there.
There are so many variables. You can buy a used gown on ebay, or some other sites for very little. I got one for $5 in the basement of this bridal shop. It was soiled, but came out beautiful from the cleaners.
You can shop around for invitations, or even make your own with the lovely software they have from different companies. Make your own thank you notes, too. Cost you only for the ink and the paper. And stamps. Have to buy stamps.
Maybe you have some friends who could steer you toward some nice fabric flowers and some decorations for not much. Party shops and card shops probably sells decorations. Paper bells and streamers, and plates and napkins.
Maybe the ceremony can be held in the park or by the beach or something. Someplace with a pavilion or someplace that you can go into if it rains.
Maybe a dinner for the reception can be a pot luck thing? Or a picnic dinner.
If you don't have much cash to spend, and if you don't think you can go to Vegas or something, you'll need to be prepared to do much of the work yourself. Believe me, it is exhausting.
Make up your mind that you aren't going to get everything done to perfection. If some things fall apart, then they do. Laugh over it rather than letting it upset you.

I think the average wedding in the US is around $25000, if you live in a bigger city (think New York, Chicago, LA, etc.) it will skew slightly higher. However, there are ways to do it very nicely and elegantly for much less, you just have to be willing to do more of the work yourself. There are many ways to save money on a wedding. Remember that the most expensive meal would be a sit down, plated dinner (where the food is put on the plates in the kitchen, then served to the guests like in a restaurant), buffets are less expensive, hor-duerves are even cheaper! Wedding invites can run from $50 per 100 to infinity per 100. Keep flowers to those that are in season when you get married, and remember roses are always the most expensive. On a wedding cake, tiered cakes are expensive because they are very labor intensive, so get a small tiered cake (for the photos) and then have sheet cakes to serve from. If you go to theknot.com, you'll find all sorts of ways to save money. You need to decide upon a budget, then stick to it! Good luck and congrats!

If you are having a "traditional" wedding, depedent upon where you live it ranges from $9,000-$15,000 on the low end.
Some great alternatives are destitnation wedding (for around $5k that will cover your stay, ceremony, cake, and dinner reception for 10) or there is always Vegas. And you could always come home and have a casual party afterwards.
Best of luck!!!

My wedding was $10,000. I had 300 guests, had a designer gown and we bought everythng and decorated ourselves and it was amazing. If you budget right it could be inexpensive and if you have a great since of style you can make $5,000 look like a $30,000 wedding. By the way you can got to a store like Walmart Super Center, Hobby Lobby, and you'll find everything you need for an amazing price. Congrats!!!

Ours was $10,000, not counting the engagement ring, but counting the wedding rings, the dress, the tux rentals, the location, minister, string trio, dj, caterers, flowers, cake, etc. I went to an all-inclusive place. They took care of everything. The wedding was held at their bed & breakfast and we were given the bed & breakfas to use overnight as well. They offered us choices of caterers, but had their own florist, cake decorator, DJ, etc. We even got a horse-drawn carriage ride to end the evening.
We can't answer the "do u know any places that does that" question; where do you live?

You have to shop around and be creative. Stay away from anything labelled 'wedding' as it will cost you 10x as much.
The average wedding is in the ballpark of $25K.
