Satan is much more sucessful than you are giving him credit.....When you read the account of Jesus in the wilderness after his baptism, you learn that Satan has the kingdoms and governments so much in his control that he had it in his power to offer that control to Jesus if he would only do an act of worship to him. Satan the devil is sucsessfully "misleading the entire inhabited earth" as he has been kicked out of heaven and is confined to earth as Revelation 12:7-12 points out. Jesus himself also made it clear that many people who sincerely think they are serving God really are not in Matthew 7:13-14 and 21-23. The devil is very crafty but God has made it known how any man can approach and serve him, The key is found in imitating his son who came to earth and serving God the way he wants to be served not picking and choosing how we ourselves think we ought to serve God.

When Lucifer was cast out with the 1/3 of the "Hosts of Heaven" he was given "rules to live by". One of these was that he could only tempt us to do wrong. His whole plan was to force us to do right, to take away our free agency to make choices of which way to go. Therefore, he can only tempt us, but not so far that we cannot overcome the temptation and still choose God's way. God is the "Alpha and Omega", the "Beginning and the End". He is all powerful and all knowing. He gave us a choice to live as He wants us to live and return to Him or to follow Lucifer to the depths of Hell. God is more powerful than Lucifer and can and does prevent him from breaking the rules.
I'm not the type to quote scripture, so I hope this answers your question.

What idiot said this didn't rhyme? As usual, flawless form and provacative message, Grannyjill. Lucifer happens to be one of my favorite subjects for thought, but as I am religious, I don't enjoy the controversy that comes from exploring those thoughts with others I know. Lucifer means "bringer of light", which I'm sure you knew, so I laugh whenever very dark people call themselves Lucifer. He was also the leader of the heavenly choir and considered the most beautiful, as you wrote. You're amazing. Isaiah 14:13(speaking of dear Lucifer) - You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. You captured it beautifully.

Evil came into being by a process of degeneration. The Highest Life creating other
life, and that spiritual Life creating life, until eventually at a lower level, Evil crept in.
And the gods kept their ability to create, but lost the godlike qualities of Love, and became prideful and controlling.
People couldn't understand these things in ancient times. So they were taught with stories. Many today still cannot contemplate these realities.

the holy spirit of god is in the world today restraining evil. satan is an angel and an angel is still a servant of god. satan still has to get permission from god to do anything. I believe satan does test with evil at times and is responsible for many terrible things on earth which really only come in relation to mans sins most times but we also have to remember we are sinners and it is our nature sometimes to sin or to destroy something not just the devil and his demons. god is restraining today so just think if he wasnt, if you want to know what that would be like read revelation, god is not restraining evil anymore.

Sure lucifer is powerful and greatly more intelligent than us but he is not omnipotent as God is,lucifer is allowed to test the world and God permits this,we are free to choose to obey God or to rebell, and those whose hearts and lives are like lucifers(full of self pride) are going to side with him.
However the faithful believer has nothing to fear from lucifer and God will not permit him to have control in their lives, lucifer cannot effect our personal free will choice, this is not permitted by God.

God gave mankind authority and control of the Earth, starting with Adam.
We merely fall into satan's temptation and do what he tells us to, which can destroy the earth.
The only authority Satan has is the authority we give him.
I prefer stepping on his cursed head and shouting, "In the name of Jesus, flee!"

Wow...
HMMM...
Ya know, I think he once had more power, until JESUS came and died for all mankind, went DOWN, to pay SATAN a visit in hell, and took ,"The keys" from him, leaving him only POWER over the AIR WAVES, and to, TEMPT us, Deceive us, and to HOPEFULLY, from his perspective, Lead us astry with, Drugs, sex, money, vanity, etc...
Good Question though.
