turn the flash on redeye setting

This sounds stupid but it does help. I read it in a photography magazine. If your camera has the red eye reduction on it turn your camera upside down to take the picture. It has something to do with how the first flash that reduces the red eye reflects from the bottom of the eye instead of the top. Seems to help, give it a try.

If you don't have a program on your computer, take the memory card or camera and USB cable to any Rite Aid, CVS or Walmart, you can do the pictures right there and they have a special program for red eye. Also, some digital cameras allow you to edit the photo while it's still on the camera. You would have to check the owner's manual to see if your camera has this feature.

There are a variety of programs that will fix red-eye in a picture. Photoshop and even Google's free software, Picassa, will. The kiosks in Long's, Rite Aide, etc. also has this feature, though I don't think you can save the "new" image back to your card.

You can fix redeye in any photo editing program but the way to elimate redeye is to seperate your camera from your flash - if you are using a SLR or dSLR get an external flash unit. If you are using a point & shoot camera then use your redeye setting.
