She could take her away until you are 18, if she can prove you are not good parents!

No she cannot take the child away. She would have to petition the courts and for the most part grandparents do not have any sort parental rights. Since the both of you are minors that could be a problem, but if your gf lives at home with her mother and is providing a safe and healthy environment for your child then there really isn't anything that her mother can do. You might try discussing this with your parents and see if they can give you any guidance in this matter, if you get no help there then I would suggest you talk to your guidance counselor at school. They should be able to give some ideas as what to do. Good Luck

Do you care for the child properly? Who is supporting the child? the mother? and you? Do your needs come first or the childs?

Why in the world would 15 and 17 year olds have a child? I wish there was a switch that had to be activated before people could procreate.

Only if you're not good parents. If you are good parents, then it's your kid and you can keep the grandmother away from the kid. There are no laws protecting the grandmothers rights.

I recommend giving the kid to the grandmother though and letting her raise it as her own if you don't care one way or another. 17 is a rough age to have a kid, and you have your entire life ahead of you.

If you don't like the girl, give up parental rights too if you don't want to deal with her. Then they won't have any claim on your future income for child support.

I'm not sure, but with how many people around that age that have children i would think not, but incase you should sit down with her and talk to her calmly, bring up the subjects like "how would the child feel not being with its parents?" "why would you want to do that when we love it so much?" ect.

She would first have to prove you guys are not fit parents. So if your girlfriend is taking care of baby you dont have to worry. If not then she better grow up fast or Mom will have the baby.

Are you giving her reason to take away the child? You know you could end up paying her child support...
