If you're eligible for the free e-file service you have to link up to the service through the IRS website. If you're using Tax Cut, you're not eligible for the free e-file even though Block publishes Tax Cut and is a free e-file provider.

The free e-file only applies to your Federal return. There usually is a fee for your state return.
