A semi formal dress or suit

Daytime formal for the wedding ceremony, evening formal for the reception.

Daytime formal: Lighter colors, less dramatic styles, dresses not floor-length. Can be put together from the best of what you already have in your closet, if necessary.

Evening Formal: More dramatic colors, fabrics and styles, dresses may be floor length if that is what you want. More likely to be 'special occasion only' outfit - as opposed to something that can be worn elsewhere.

Shoes are exactly the same points as above.

It depends on what you have, or if you want to invest in a new outfit.

I'd wear a strappy dress, with a jacket in matching color on top. Heels, a nice bag, and you are off. BUT - how are you going to survive all day in between? are there planned events, or are you going back to work? you can also wear a little cute suit, and before the evening change with a really glittery top and high heels... that would trick everybody in thinking you had the time to change!!! If you can get a rest, you would be better off... it sounds like a marathon.

I have worn a simple dress (a fitted tank dress) to both, and changed shoes and accessories in between. Basic shoes and small jewelry to the ceremony, and spiked heels and more dramatic jewelry to the reception. You can always change these things in the car!

The key is to choose a stylish dress (or pants outfit) that is a "blank slate." And you can embellish your makeup for the reception, too, like adding more dramatic eye shadow and glossy lipstick for the reception.

Wear a toga or halter neck gown (above ankle length) with something covering the top for the ceremony. For the dinner in the late evening, remove the top covering to reveal the toga or halter neckline.
