I work at Circuit City where I am the delivery lead, and I can say honestly that many TV's nowadays have a volume setting in the menu options that will ensure that switching channels with not raise the volume past a set level, to prevent the windows from being blown out during changing channels. (ha ha) Many older models TVs may not have this function, but I can tell you that alot of the newer models of the last couple of years, i.e. Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Zenith, and many more will have this function. My 32" Phillips tube TV has this function, and it is almost 5 years old. The best thing to dop is to ask your specialist at your local appliance store, and maybe the two of you can look at a particular model and find out together. Good luck!
