My cat, Corwin (Prince Corwin of Amber) is a cross between a Lilac Point Himalayan and a Siamese. He has lovely markings, with a black nose, cornflower blue eyes, black ears, tawny and gray (blue) fur, a blue tail and black paws. My sister, who is a cat breeder, says he is purebred "Snowshoe," a breed just recently recognized. But the Cat Fancy web site says snowshoes have white paws. His sister from the same litter has white paws. Are either of them purebreds? Not that it matters. Corwin is a wonderful cat. I just want to know if he's really a "Snowshoe" or just a "Himmie-cross."

Your cat sounds beautiful! He does sound like a "Hymie-Cross" and he should have a great personality. Enjoy your precious furry friend.

I'm guessing that the term snowshoe means white paws. I just looked it up and it states that the snowshow breed is a cross between Siamese and a bi colored domestic short hair. If your cat is part siamese and part Himalayan, he is a mixed cat since neither of those are the snowshoe breed.

Its just a himmy cross.
I used to breed/show cats, and snow shoes was one of my breeds.
they are called snowshoe because of there white feet. Without the white feet they arent a snowshoe.
A purebred is a cat that has purebred parents with registration papers..
purebreds are pure to there bloodlines .
With one parent being a himmy and the other parent being a siamese - they are a mix - like himmy creoss or siameses cross

He's a Himalayan cross, snowshoes ALWAYS have white paws, that's why they're called snowshoes. And they've been around for years too. Your sister needs to do more homework on her cat breeds.
