Here is an easy one or hard one you make the call. If modern man was to be wiped out today and only our ape counterparts were to survive do you think that evolution would follow the same path it did before and create another planet full of humans like us or would another race or species take over? If apes are still evolving then it stands to reason that even if humans wiped themselves out another form of humanity would stand to take our place.

This is a great question and any answer that you get is speculative. Scientific theories are descriptive not predictive.

Anyway, I think it's very possible there would be another form of intelligence that would evolve. In fact, I think it's possible that some of the things that we would leave behind could actually promote it. For instance, roads could spark a logical cateogrization of place among some individuals which would lead to the ability to categorize other things as well.

There is one major obstacle, however. And that is language. Without the spark of a rich language (and the morphology necessary to form complex sounds) it would be difficult for an intelligence to take hold.

Also, they would not be 'humans'.They would be a different species.

Not exactly the same as humans, as the apes are further along the evolutionary timeline than they were when we split off. You can't say that we would follow the same path, as evolution is the result of natural selection. We are the product of the conditions and circumstances around us. If for example we were wiped out by a nuclear war, there would be different radiation levels, and any species which would continue to survive would have to be resistant to radiation.

See as a believer in Faith, and GOD/ The Great CREATOR...
I see us being wiped out as a part of HIS PLAN, THAT ONLY HE WILL BE ABLE to FULLY STOP, so we do not destroy ourselves COMPLETLY.
Well perhaps it is NOT EXACTLY in HIS PLAN for us to WIPE OURSELVES Out...
But since we have free will, that is ultimately, OUR CHOICE, and it seems to be what we do best.
What like... "Fighting, wiping out species, hating, anger, want to kill the MOTHA' FUC'A' Who pissed me off...Got to get revenge, quick to fight and quick to JUDGE others"...
These are just a few examples of the NEGATIVE side of the coin of Humanity...
Well I should atleast answer your question, atleast...Hypothetically speaking...
I suppose according to EVOLUTION THEORIES, YES, it would be possible for some form of...oh wait, no, NO NO NO NO NO, you are getting me all caught up in this EVOLUTION SCAM.
No I am Certain, CERTAIN!!! That my ancestors were not swinging around in the trees, and that GOD, An INTELLIGENT, Self Created...All Knowing, All Seeing, ALL POWERFUL GOD, Who NO OTHER IS EQUAL TO; Created me, and this planet I live on.
As far as I am concerned, He Created this world in an EVOLUTIONARY MANNER, or style...I am not saying plants, animals, etc. do not, or did not EVOLVE, I am just saying that when it came time for HUMAN beings, GOD CREATED THE mold, and He DESIGNED US AS WE ARE, not by some evolutionary CHANCE, but by GODs', GREAT, INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
My FATHER, Daddy,( ABBA FATHER) GOD.
He wants you to embrace Him, He is allready embracing you...
May the Father God Soften your heart, allowing you to believe and know that HE IS GOD, CREATOR, SOVEREIGN, and alive.
Amen.
DJ
And how is it that people are always saying we came from APES, and yet, THEY ARE STILL EVOLVING?
God will never turn His back on you.
He loves you no matter what.
Evolution can not promise you a PERFECT ETERNITY...
But GOD allready has.
PRAISE GOD!!!

No, I doubt that apes would form into Humans. It is possible, just not very likely at all. They might form into something similar to humans though, a more advanced intelligence, etc.

No they would not (the odds are just very very far against it), and no it does NOT stand to reason. If you rewind the tape, there is absolutely no guarantee an intelligent species would evolve.

There is no "ultimate" goal of evolution, it isn't directed like that.

No - there is not any hard evidence to show that men evolved from ape. There are too many peices missing in the evolutionary chain.

Apes are not evolving today - have you seen a transition species?

So, what is evolution? Evolution wishes it were a science. But, it has too many assumptions to qualify as science. If it were science, evolutionists would not have to have a consensus of scientists to agree that evolution is real.

If evolution were real, then all scientists would be able to review the same evidence and come to the same conclusion. Lacking such, it is still a theory and not a fact.

Does adaptation occur? Certainly. But you have microevolution and not macroevolution. A horse is still a horse and a dog is still a dog.

No.

There won't ever again be a human race.

I subscribe to punctuated equilbrium,

Punctuated equilibrium (or punctuated equilibria) is a theory in evolutionary biology which states that most sexually reproducing species will show little to no evolutionary change throughout their history. When evolution does occur, it happens sporadically (by splitting) and occurs relatively quickly compared to the species' full duration on earth. For this reason, the theory is sometimes called evolution by jerks.[1] Punctuated equilibrium is commonly contrasted against the theory of phyletic gradualism (“evolution by creeps”), which hypothesizes that most evolution occurs uniformly and by the steady and gradual transformation of whole lineages (anagenesis).

again, natural selection optimises each species for its environment. Maybe apes would follow our path, maybe not. Considering we changed the environment in rather drastic ways I think not, but throw some dice. Who knows how they will fall?

No I do not believe that there would be a new dormant species. if any thing rats would take control.
