It is only right that they do!!

How would you feel if you lived in another country (like Italy) and millions of people entered your country and did not know Italian??

If you want to work and live in a country you need to know the language, period, end of discussion!!!

Personally I think that people moving into the U.S. should definitely work on learning English the best they can before coming here. If it's still 'broken English', but they have a skill to offer our Country and wish to live here where they can be free, they should be able to. But should they keep working on learning our language the best they can? Absolutely. My Italian family did it. They kept their traditions and even their beautiful language, but they also learned English the best they could so they could become a real working part of this amazing land!

Maybe not when they move here but they should be able to speak it after a period of time otherwise it just further divides the population. If not then why are all schools required to have ESL (English as a Second Language) programs.

English is the official language of the USA and it should be mandatory that all speak English. You say "clear" well that comes
with daily practice but at least make an effort to communicate.

If you wish to speak your native language it should be confined
to the privacy of your home.......

Mr. Peanut is taking the phrase "freedom of speech" out of

They do not have to speak perfect English to legally immigrate to the USA.But if you are living here and calling this your home then you need to make an effort to learn the language. It helps you in many ways.It not only lets you make new friends it enables you to get better jobs. The USA is a nation of English speakers,85% of Americans speak English as their first language. Our government and our states conduct business in English..It is very advantageous for the legal immigrant to learn as much English as he/she can.
Americans should never be FORCED to learn a foreign language in their own country.I speak several other languages but it was and should remain my choice to do so
America speaks English and that's a good thing...
I live in Arizona and we speak English first,in fact my state passed a law making English the official language of our state. We also passed a law banning illegal aliens from any entitlements.

So what has happened to change things other than all the do gooders and mexs who has invaded our country. YES speak english or go somewhere else.

No.English is not spoken to much in the southwest Americas, major cities, and Miami.
No, not a single word because, Spanish is a language everybody should speak. Over 800 million and counting speaks Spanish. English is an anglo saxon root its, not Spanish or Latin so NO!
Not a chance.
It should be anglo saxons learning Spanish.
Spanish is a language that is popular unlike anglo english because, english is a language that takes words from Latin or Spanish (how uncool is that). In Spanish, the language doesn't have to steal English words as much, the english language did.
