Coca cola from a can is different from fountain because the fountain coke is mixed with water because it's still a thick syrup and needs to get mixed with water so it can come out of the machine.

in the fountain coca cola is really just a bag of syrup with a seltzer water line so I think the fountain soda may be a bit weaker.

According to a guy servicing the fountain machine, he claimed it was the same mix and showed me the device he used to measure the two parts.

However, I remember when they used to mix the two by hand by first squirting the syrup into a glass followed by the soda. It definitely tasted as if there was more syrup in the mix.

Yes. Very much so. There is no consistency to fountain drinks as the equipment is usually unreliable.

The aluminum can itself will also impart it's own taste on the soft drink.

the coke from the fountain has more carbonated water in it. the one in the can has more syrup in it.
