Possibly, it just depends on how it is herniated, how much soft tissue is involved. I had traction as a part of my physical therapy program. We were working on a low back injury, it did help some but in the end was not successful. Can't hurt to try though, wasn't painful, but is important to do stretching excercises before and after the treatment, as the muscles try to "guard" the injury and sometimes will spasm enough to void the traction. Good luck.

Not normally. It can and is a temporary fix and you should look at the money involved before you make a decision as to continue. If you have insurance then it might not hurt to do the procedure. If you are paying for it or for part of it, you might want to find a surgeon who will work on it. This is usually what will end up happening anyway. I've had 4 exploded disc now and I have a Titanium plate holding the bones apart now. All pain has ceased for about 5 years now.

What is causing this bulging disk? Have you tried a chiropractor? Check with google, and put in, bulging disk and see what comes up.

See if you have a chiropractor who uses an activator (NOT one who does manual manipulation) to ask this question in your area. There is the possibility they can help but I will not speak for them.
For information on muscles, pain and referred pain read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.

No, only surgery or acupuncture + Yog or exercise from specialist + massage can help.
Surgery is the best; but it should be always the last thing.
If patient is healthy and has strong will power Alternate Medicine Systems yield good results but therapist needs mastery over them.
