Why not get together as many photo's or pics that you can find; old ones, recent ones, even cut-outs from mags that make you laugh or are cute; you can purchase a large pin-board from any newsagents or QD-type shop for under a fiver and make a huge clooage together. it's something that you can all work on together, it's quite fun and takes a fair amount of time so it's something you can look forward to. you can decorate the outside of the pin-board too. my family and i did this ourselves a couple of weeks ago when we had a power cut cos of the really bad winds, and we had such a laugh. there's always a funny story about a pic of o9ne of your family members that ur mum hasnt told u yet. failing that, you can pick up puzzles from charity shops for anything between 20p and 5 or 6quid, which is always interesting to do. or card games; patience or rummy, anything like that helps pass the time. good luck and i hope these ideas help.xxx

I like the family album thing above - also going for walks is nice, generally getting out of the house - why don't you go over there and cook her dinner and then all eat together? That would take up the best part of an afternoon or evening and would give you the chance to chat. Otherwise really anything like walks or browsing unusual shops - that's the kind of thing we do! Good luck!

really great though's...well done...cards are good fun....especially if you can cheat a bit to make more of a laugh..l like art...its quite easy to paint...and relatively cheap...so that is something l would suggest anyone could try....another idea is the launchcast radio...sort of juke box jury...vote on the songs...that do not have the x factor...just a few ideas for a really considerate person..good luck to you

You didn't say how old your mum is. My grandma likes to play Boggle and Scrabble. It keeps her mind sharp too. How about sorting family pictures and making a scrapbook or a photo album?

Hiking in the woods, no matter where you live or what the temperature is is always a beautiful thing!
