To give man a Choice

2007-02-03 01:33:57 · answer #1 · answered by Monte T 6 · 0 5

God did not make an evil tree. He created the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and placed it in the middle of the Garden of Eden. There were a lot of other trees in the garden, many with more succulent fruit, but by telling man that this was the one tree he could not eat from, God was establishing the first rule. Of course, being man and being rebellious as we all are, Adam and Eve chose, instead of spending time walking the garden with God, to eat of the one tree that he told them not to. the serpent did not really trick her, he just convinced her that it was exactly what she deserved, being equal with God.
Mankind strives to supplant God in all things and this was the first recorded event that shows this.

When Eve ate the apple and gave some to Adam, they did not become clever, they were banished from the garden of Eden, I wouldn't say that was clever of them to disobey God. God gave them all the rest of the trees in paradise and that wasn't enough for them, They listened to the serpent, who told them they would be wise etc. God gave Adam and Eve a brain to think for themselves and it was their choice to disobey, they just got creedy! God gave them a choice and they made a bad one. A parent punishes a child when then do wrong, so God punished Adam and Eve.

God gave Adam and Eve a free will to choose to do what God wanted or not.

God gave them only 1 command "Do not eat of the tree of knowledge".

Adam and Eve broke that 1 command.

The tree was not evil...Is the law evil? It is the law that Satan uses to condemn you... The other tree in the midst of the Garden is the tree of life if you eat of this tree (God's mercy Jesus Christ) You will live forever...God showed us his plan from the first scriptures he gave us.God gave us the law he knew we could not live up to it but that ti should show us our need for him and then he paid the penalty of death for us...So many think this is a Gospel idea but the story is God's and was in the beginning with God. Jesus Christ was in the beginning with God and his atonement was before the foundations of the world. God's law is righteous man could not live up to it God's mercy is demonstrated through the atonement he provided by paying the penalty of death for us.

there was no actual 'evil tree' the tree was one of many, there were even trees just like the one they ate from. God told them they could eat from ANY tree in the garden just dont eat from that one. The tree had no evil powers, it was more of a representation. The focus is not to be the tree, but the disobedience of adam and eve.

It just goes to show you about Christianity, Adam ate from the Tree of Knowledge and was cursed, and Christians have been afraid of knowledge ever since. A religion built around ignorance.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil offers an opportunity for Adam to live by his own decisions, which unfortunately led him into sin. The other tree, the tree of life offers Adam the choice of living with the life of God. For men to live by his own decision God gave the law of Moses on the day of Pentecost to set the boundaries for them to obey. For men to live by faith in God, God on the day of Pentecost gave the Holy Spirit for men to obey. Men forsake living the life of God under God's direction to live their own lives by their wits and made a mess of everything.

*According to Christian doctrine the tree was not evil. God wanted to test the faithfulness of Adom and Eve and put the trees there to test them and they failed the test. The problem with this is they then claim that God knew they would fail the test, but tested them anyway.*

Adam and Eve

They ate (assimilated or consumed knowledge) from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Satan).

That's why God said;

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

We all must eat (assimilate or consume knowledge) of the tree of life (Jesus Christ), to live for ever.

God uses and allows Satan as the negative part of his plan which is ultimately positive.

It is called the Tree of Knowledge. They were told not to eat the forbidden fruit. The serpant tricked them into eating it. They were kicked out and evil was brought into the world. They did not become clever. They were weak with temptaion.
